It is on the Katni–Bilaspur line and connects to Katni, Bilaspur and Ambikapur. The station code of Anuppur Junction is 'APR'. It has four platforms.

The Narmada River originates from the hill of Amarkantak in the Maikal Hills, and the Son River originates nearby.
