Barrackpore railway station is a major railway station located in the north 24 Pargana district of West Bengal. The station serves the city Barrackpore by train services. Another notable freedom fighter and the writer of our national song “VANDE –MATARAM” Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay has also born in the sub division of Barrackpore only.
The city is also known for many other reasons. There are many jute processing factories are located on the banks of Hooghly river. One rifle factory also functions at the same place on the bank of river. Apart from these medium scale industries agriculture is very well-flourished in the city. - Kali Temple – The temple is believed to be very ancient and it is said that it has been built 700 years ago. The temple has also historical background during the time of freedom movements of the Indian freedom. A big temple is established in the city where a number of people gather everyday to offer their prayers to the goddess Kali.
- Mangal Pandey Park – Named after the great rebellion and nationalist leader Mangal Pandey, the park is a major attraction of the city. A big statue of the great leader Mangal Pandey is installed in this park.
