Food Delivery in Train at Delhi
Delhi junction railway station is one of the most important railway station located in the old Delhi nearby the Chandani Chowk. Delhi junction railway station is the oldest railway station of the town opened its way for the public in the year 1864. The station was built with the aim to connect the Delhi with the city of Calcutta (National capital during that time) via direct railway network connectivity. From 1864 till present the station has been rebuilt and renovated for 2 times and this shows the importance of the station. The station is the busiest railway station of town in terms of the frequency of trains passing by the station. The station building is built a fort kind of structure and painted with red color which gives it a similar look like the Red Fort of India.
The station is operated by Northern railway zone and it is administered by the Delhi division of Indian railways. The stations was started with just 2 railway platform but as if now there are 16 platforms are built which handles more than 2,00,000 (2 Lakhs) passengers every day. There were many lock towers had been built among which 4 clock towers are still spotted and it is used as the water tank at the station.
There are many facilities are provided the premises of station. The station is equipped with all major facilities. There are PRS office, GRP office, Ticket windows and other basic facility such as drinking water and sanitation services are also available at the station. There are waiting rooms, retiring rooms, waiting hall, cloak room and parking facilities are available at the station. There are all the major facilities have been provided for the comfort and security of the passengers at station premises. CCTV camera installations have been done to add more security at station for passengers.
There are almost 80 trains originate from this station for different cities of India among which 78 trains terminate at this station. There are almost 57 trains halt at the station every day. The station connects the city with different parts of India with railway transportation system. There are trains from several parts of country such as Delhi , Samastipur , Patna, Sitamarhi, Ranchi, Puri , New Jalpaiguri, Howrah, Hyderabad, Ambala, Jammu, Allahabad , Bareilly and many others halt at the station. The station handles almost 1, 80,000 passengers on daily basis.
The Chandani Chowk metro station is located just beside the station. The metro connectivity makes the transportation to the different direction of the city more feasible. Auto rickshaw and taxis are also available outside the station to direct the people in the internal parts of the city.
About the City
The station is located near the famous market place Chandani Chowk. The area was built during the time of Mughal rulers and Chandani Chowk Lake was established specially in the shape of half Moon designed by princess Jahanara the daughter of Mughal ruler Shahjahan. The city is still the biggest wholesale market. The markets of Chandani Chowk are known to be the oldest market place of Delhi.
If you are visiting this place, you must go to the Red fort. You can have a view of Fatehpur Mosque from Red Fort, which is situated just opposite of Chandani Chowk. So you can schedule your visit at Red fort and Chandani Chowk on same day. You can also head to Mirza Gaalib Ki Haveli which is also quit beautiful place to visit.
Jama Masjid and Qutub Minar are also nearby Chandani Chowk, so you can plan day to explore the places near Chandani Chowk. You are advised to avoid Sunday because this place become overcrowded on Sundays, as Chandani Chowk is the biggest wedding shopping center in Delhi. The renowned food street “Parathe Wali Gali” is also located in the area of Chandani Chowk, so don’t forget to move towards the foodie street where varieties of Parathe are served to the people. Don’t forget to taste the unique Rabri ke Parathe and Kulfi Parathe.
