It is said that the Har (Necklace) of Devi Sati has fallen on this hill when the lord Shiva was moving across the universe with the death body of Ma Sati. Due to the Har (Necklace) of Mai (Mother) fallen at the pick top of the hill, the place came to known as “Maihar” (necklace of the mother).
